I'm e'er and so nervous trying dishes without reviews! Simply I just thought this sounded good. And it IS proficient, and so that was a relief. I didn't take sherry, but I looked upward a substitution chart and it said I could use orange juice or pineapple juice. Just I didn't have those either! So I looked up aNOTHER chart and information technology told me I could employ vanilla extract! So I did (one tsp for the one tbsp sherry). And the gravy simply smelled so good. And thickened up wonderfully. All in all, a dandy, piece of cake dish. Just serve over rice! :)

This doesn't utilize to this recipe specifically, but I am ill and tired of reading bad reviews from people who haven't fifty-fifty tried the recipe. Every cook tweaks a recipe a chip, but to give information technology a bad review? Too much fourth dimension on their hands. Allow's see some of THEIR recipes!
12/04/2011
this recipe is excellent every bit is. Delight, people....review the recipe as information technology is, and rate information technology as information technology is!! Adding or changing the ingredients alters the recipe, and therefore is non a truthful rating of the original recipe.
09/09/2006
Nosotros loved this recipe, thanks! I used French Onion soup instead of the beef broth, and would highly recommend using ground Angus for the beef. The flavor is wonderful, thank you!
02/10/2011
This was VERY yummy!!! Equally always, I made the recipe EXACTLY as information technology is and I have to say I owuldn't alter a thing.
09/08/2006
Good recipe, only using fresh herbs and spices really helps...fresh grated garlic, minced onions or grated onion, fresh cracked pepper etc. really makes a big divergence...a fiddling chopped parsley also adds something.
03/09/2006
These were peachy! I decided to follow some other user'due south directions and add a splash of red vino vinegar (in place of the sherry that I didn't have) and it pretty much ruined the gravy beyond belief. Don't use vinegar! I luckily had an instant brown gravy mix that I whipped up last infinitesimal. Give thanks God y'all take to remove the meat or else it would have been ruined too! The way I saved it was great and I ate it on top of white rice.
09/02/2006
Cheers, Anne, for a wonderful recipe. It is definitely a keeper. As others have suggested, do double the gravy. My husband did the cooking outside in an electrical skillet. Couldn't have been better!
09/10/2006
Nosotros only loved this! I did double the gravy and used a tin can of onion soup, mmmm mmmm practiced! I used rice but side by side time I make this I volition make it with mashed potatoes, this is the best gravy! hum!
09/08/2006
Added couple cloves fresh garlic & half box of fresh mushrooms--threw them in food processor with the onion so they would mix with the meat better. Instead of beef broth used half a big container of mushroom goop and small container of french onion soup(non dry mix) to make the gravy. Then added remainder of mushrooms and a sliced onion, put the lid on and allow the whole thing simmer. Calculation some sour cream to gravy just before serving with noodles makes is proficient too. I buy the mushroom broth and the French onion soup at the health food shop or in health food section of grocery. Most of my family are addicted to mushrooms so the goop is used in everything but dessert.

This is one of the best recipes I've fabricated off this site! It was and so expert that actually no changes were needed to make it family unit pleasing. The meat was perfectly seasoned and tender, and it was really easy to make. The but changes I fabricated were to fry the patties in nonstick cooking spray instead of all the oil (the meat was greasy enough that this worked really well!) and I also skipped the sherry, only because I never keep that in my house. Every unmarried person in my family unit liked this dish, and that is maxim a lot!!!! They were even requesting that I make information technology again this week...which I might exercise! I served these over noodles, and it was a cheap, tasty, family-friendly repast that I will brand again and again. Thank you and then much for sharing...this is a winner!!!
01/31/2011
five stars all the mode! I used ground turkey instead of beef. Didn't accept onion or garlic powders, so I used the real stuff :) My husband didn't expect to like information technology (his words!) from the recipe pic, but went back for seconds and said he would like this on a regular basis! My kids tore it up :)
02/09/2011
This popped upwardly yesterday as the Recipe of the Day every bit I pulled upwards the site in the hopes of looking for a new turkey cutlet recipe...needless to say I made this instead! Soo happy I did! This recipe is a corking way to use chop meat in a not and so tiresome way and the ingredients are things we all have in our pantry, pretty much. The just 2 substitutions I made were soy sauce for the worcestershire and marsala cooking wine for the sherry equally I did not take those 2 in the business firm. I did double the gravy mixture...doubled the flour, beef broth, and marsala to make more than of the gravy as I knew my family would want to smother the rice with information technology. Ever beloved extra gravy and it tasted fabulous so I was sooo happy I doubled it. This is def a keeper for my business firm! Nice way to brand something different with chop meat, had the experience of salisbury steaks, deeeeelishh!!
05/12/2006
First-class!! The gravy this produces (which I doubled) is good enough to eat alone in a bowl! I couldn't stop sneaking spoonfulls of this gravy! The only thing I volition add is that fifty-fifty though I tripled the amt. of everything for the gravy (ie, iii cups of goop) it was notwithstanding a scrap thick. I made a note to quadruple the goop next time, to sparse information technology out just a bit. I served this over oven-roasted potatoes, and it was just divine. Besides, as a note, I did not have beefiness broth, then I fabricated bootleg broth w/ ONION SOUP MIX, which makes a lovely, savory broth w/ onion flavour! I highly recommend this route...it adds fifty-fifty more succulent flavor! Try it..I recall y'all will exist delighted with the taste information technology produces! Thanks, and am planning on making this for visiting relatives in a couple of weeks, as it has at present become one of my all-fourth dimension favorite recipes!

Wonderful
02/03/2010
This is a very good recipe. Every bit with all of the recipes from this site, I get in equally written; that way I rate the recipe submitted...not the ane I made and accept to take responsibility for the consequence! I was out of basis chuck and so I used footing Buffalo. The depression fat content of the meat and deep flavour worked very overnice with the gravy. Served information technology with mashed potato'south and green beans.
06/05/2014
If you change or tweak a recipe then don't rate it! How can you be critical of a dish that you took liberties with? I will exit a review if I followed the recipe explicitly and it came out ho-hum...and then and only so will I review it. Most of these recipes are a great starting place for a great meal to suit your personal tastes, still, the cease result is your personal grade and not the submission's.

Ok i wanted to give this a 4.5 stars but the taste was worth the extra .v!!! Amazing TASTE! I made the recipe exactly every bit called for except I did not employ the sherry (didnt have whatsoever on mitt). The just reason I wanted to give a 4.5 star was considering the gravy was very little, not plenty to encompass the patties and rice. BUT now that I think nigh it, I didnt substitute anything for the sherry so thats probaby why.. The little less than i lb of ground beef (.90 to exist exact) made 8 small patties, which were perfect size for united states. More like a trivial bigger than a slider. Served over white rice.... This is condolement food at its finest!

Why bother reviewing a recipe if you modify it to a totally different recipe? Pointless to requite a bad review on a recipe you screwed upwards yourself by not following the directions. o.O My family really enjoyed this recipe and I take fabricated information technology several times since I constitute it. Goes great with homemade mashed potatoes and buttery rolls!
01/27/2011
This was delicious! I made it exactly as written except that I used chopped shallots in place of the onion pulverization and chopped fresh garlic instead the garlic pulverization. I likewise quadrupled the gravy (because it'southward as good every bit anybody says!) using two cups of beefiness goop and two cups of Progresso French Onion soup. Fantastic! If you don't make more than gravy y'all'll wish you did. I also used very lean 7% fat ground beefiness and it came out moist and juicy. I browned the hamburgers in olive oil cooking spray rather than vegetable oil. Yous don't need to cook the hamburgers through because they will finish cooking while simmering in the gravy and be very moist despite using lower fat meat. Served with Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes by Kathleen Burton and Sugar Snap Peas by CJCOLLINS. A fantastic meal!
xi/01/2005
I would requite information technology more stars, but i made a few changes and it didnt turn out and so well. HA HA.....And so im actually non too certain as to how good it could be. Just dont do what i did. All i had on hand was italian flavored bread crumbs. And i used sugariness onions. The gravy so had no savory rich season, it was a sweet after taste. And the merely matter that i really didnt like about the recipe was the flavor salt. Im but not fond of it. Kinda of an artifical taste to me. Other than that, Decent.
01/16/2012
Just like the skillful old-fashioned condolement nutrient yous remember from childhood! I've made this recipe many times now, as it's a family favorite (and volition be dinner tonight too). I agree 100% with the suggestion to double, or even triple the gravy so you get enough to smother your mashed potatoes (and your veggie of choice). I add together a little extra worchestershire in place of sherry, which I generally don't accept on hand. I use a combo of chicken/beef broth, thus eliminating the extra seasoned table salt. I'm also more than generous with the garlic/onion powders. I thinly piece two small onions, which seems to exist the perfect amount for us. Try equally I might, I tin can never get viii patties, then I always make half dozen. Served with mashed potatoes and corn, this is easily 1 of my favorite AR recipes. Like shooting fish in a barrel, yummy, and quick...the perfect combo!
12/06/2011
So happy to finally see a recipe that has real ingredients and not canned soup, gravy mixes and soup mixes.
01/08/2012
Comfort nutrient at it's all-time! Reminded me of a dish y'all would look in the "olden days." This was very flavorful. The only affair I inverse was that I didn't add the sherry (but because I didn't have any). I added Worcestershire sauce to the beef broth instead of the sherry. I'll probably go on doing it this way because I always accept Worcestershire sauce and never have sherry. I served this with hot, buttered egg noodles and green beans. Super easy to make...great weeknight recipe!
08/01/2011
Hamburger steak with gravy is a classic Cajun dish here in South Louisiana (really). I use ground round or even chopped sirloin, mix the ingredients into the meat, and let the patties sit in the fridge for about an hour before cooking. The flavors mix very nicely and the meat firms up and doesn't autumn apart in the skillet. I usually add sliced mushrooms, and also sometimes a few tablespoons of love apple sauce, depending on what'due south left over in the fridge. I don't use sherry, simply I cook with scarlet wine in practically everything -- Cabernet Sauvignon or Marsala -- which works great. And I utilise diced fresh garlic considering I can't abide garlic pulverisation. Comfort FOOD TIP: Make extra gravy; reheat it and eat it over a couple slices of French or Italian bread, especially late at night with a bottle of beer!
12/03/2011
I've been making this recipe for years just called it Salisbury Steak, served w/mashed potatoes and a veggie or salad. It's a keeper. I wouldn't change 1 thing! Yummy!
01/31/2006
Great Recipe. I used lean ground beef and used Italian Bread crumbs and they came out wonderful. Since I used lean beef I added two Tablespoons of Butter to make the gravy. I omited the Sherry and used two cups of beef broth for extra gravy. My Husband loved this recipe. Will brand again.
06/07/2006
It was a rainy day here today, so I was really looking for some comfort food. I came across this recipe and saw all the rave reviews so I figured I would try it. I added minced onion, and parsley to the meat mixture and made into 4 patties instead of eight. I doubled the broth omiting the sherry and added italian seasoning and mushrooms to it. The cooking time was authentic, however the taste was very bland. The meat was very "compact" tasting to say the least, and the gravy wasn't that impressive. It tasted like a tv dinner. We really didn't care for this, and I will be on the search for a better recipe. Thanks for sharing.
12/sixteen/2004
Excellent! A very hearty and satisfying dish when coupled with mashed potatoes to put that thick savory gravy on. The merely change I made to this superb recipe was to double it and I'thou glad I did. My whole family unit loved it and requested we have information technology again soon. I'm emailing this 1 on to my friends and putting information technology in the front of my recipe box.
01/25/2011
Only change I fabricated was to use matzo meal in lieu of bread crumbs because it was what I had on hand. Excellent!
09/24/2012
This was delicious. I added mushrooms and I used a little worcestshire in the gravy since I did not have Sherry. My kids and my picky husband loved it! We will make this again!
08/18/2009
yummmm soo good! i used butter instead of oil, about two tbsp. fabricated 6 burgers. I made the beef broth with a beef boullion cube and hot h2o. I likewise mixed the flour with cold milk (nearly 1/2 cup) and added it subsequently I added the broth. really REALLY Good!
02/02/2010
This is a actually tasty hamburger steak. I was actually impressed. Lots of flavor and heats up well as left overs for the next day. The second time I made these I did double the gravey function of recipe. Served with mashed potatoes. The kids and hubby love it. Thank you for sharing!
02/xiv/2011
Very tasty recipe my whole family loved it. Fabricated it co-ordinate to directions. Will definatley make this again. Could easily double gravy role though so y'all take extra for brew potatoes. :-)
11/28/2011
Fabricated this exactly like the recipe and it was outstanding. Husband couldn't stop eating. I served it with mashers and succotash, just like the Salisbury steak at Cheesecake Mill! I agree with others that it wouldn't hurt to double the gravy. Very tasty!
12/18/2010
This recipe is astonishing. It's my husband'southward favorite dish that I make and he requests information technology all the time. Besides, I've made this recipe for several people and they e'er love it. Many of them said they've never liked hamburger steaks earlier. I like to proceed this recipe close to the original considering information technology'southward that good. The only thing i change is that I add together mushrooms and double the gravy then nosotros can put it on mashed potatoes. Definitely give this recipe a endeavour!
04/02/2012
wow! what can I say? this was the best recipe I ever used for hamburger steaks. I have made it twice and so far and the last time I served it with fries seasoned with oregano and parmesan cheese (greek way)...and put the brownish gravy over the fries (cajun way)...so yummy.. a KEEPER!!!! I used more than onions than suggested and i too used 2 pounds of footing sirloin so I doubled everything and however made about 7 to viii of them
09/14/2006
Reminds me of my childhood when my Mom would brand Salibury steak. I purchased hamburger steak patties, and so I didn't utilize the egg or staff of life crumbs. I fryed the patties, removed them and fryed the onions, added rest of the ingredients to brand gravy added patties to gravy and spooned gravy over meat, covered and baked in a 300 oven for almost 45 minutes. Very tasty, will brand again!
11/02/2012
Fabricated this last night and we loved information technology! Fabricated every bit directed. Loved the sherry in the gravy. I wish I had made more than gravy. We look forward to having this over again!
01/06/2011
Yummy. I fabricated minimum changes, by and large out of necessity. But mostly I fabricated information technology as is, and it was a satisfying meal. I dredged the patties in flour before frying them. I didn't have seasoned salt, and then I used plain common salt in the meat and omitted it in the gravy. No sherry, then I tried the hint of replacing with bootleg vanilla extract. I doubled the gravy (merely didn't double the extract).
04/28/2011
Everyone in my home ate this and liked it. That is zip short of astonishing in my houseold, since generally at least 1 person dosen't similar something. (wouldn't it be great to please everyone, all the fourth dimension? ehhhhhhh........) I believe I didn't make my "steaks" sparse enough, after cooking they became sorta rounded. Very yummy!
07/31/2011
This makes the juciest burgers and the gravy was great even the next day.The only matter I saw that information technology was not salty enough had to add salt at table. I did try past adding mushrooms but I won't exercise that again, information technology was non every bit good and don't slice the onions so thin they tend to cook away.Just is is probably the first Hamburger Steak recipe I have gotten that the meat was not tough and tasteless. Effort it you volition like it. The cerise wine is adjacent to be added.
03/26/2011
This was great! The gravy is really the best part. I doubled it, and I still want to make more....information technology would be expert on a lot of things. I recall the quality of your basis beefiness is probably important here. I didn't have cooking sherry or onions and then I left those out, and I used regular salt considering I don't like seasoned salt. This is a recipe y'all can mess with to your liking and still have the same basic great thing. I boiled some potatoes in beefiness broth to get with it. Even my picky married man said this tasted like something yous would become at a really good eatery!
12/x/2010
Practiced Recipe, withal, the sherry in the gravy simply didn't do it for me...I will make this again but I will omit the sherry. Thanks.
12/17/2004
These were fantastic!! I added some mushrooms and served them with hot buttered noodles. The kids absolutely loved them!! Definitely a keeper!!
12/27/2010
Easy, fast, and succulent...keeper!
ten/14/2012
I've fabricated this on a couple of occasions and I beloved it, especially when chilly fall days fix in. I've made it as is with cracking results, I've doubled it with no issues and I've tweeked it to my item tastes and each fourth dimension it comes out great! In my most recent version, I changed up the spices a fleck and included some smoked paprika and a teeny bit of chili powder and thyme. I also added about a tablespoon of my favorite hot sauce in with the eggs and shell them to mix information technology all together before calculation information technology to the meat mixture. Rather than adding the onions with the meat to melt, I dice them and add them to the drippings with 8oz. of chopped mushrooms and 1-2 tablespoons of butter. Instead of sherry, I used Madiera vino. Increase the flour past fifty% and after adding the broth and wine, I add together 1/2-three/4 cups of milk. The little bit of extra richness is wonderful.
04/08/2010
My just change was I left out the sherry and added sliced fresh mushrooms. My LOVED this! Any time I brand an AR recipe and he cleans his plate and asks for 2nds, you get v stars.
11/05/2011
Very good! I doubled the gravy ingredients and added a tin can of French onion soup and golden mushroom soup. I also sautéed the onions with a few mushrooms later the meat then added all back to the pot with the gravy. I might add extra seasoning side by side time - mayhap a Montreal steak seasoning or some steak sauce.
02/10/2011
This was delicious!! I fabricated it as written and was impressed with how tasty this dish is. The secret is in the seasoned salt and then don't substitute information technology out. I did apply seasoned breadcrumbs and made 4 flat patties. Information technology'due south not the prettiest dish only it is ane of the ameliorate ones I have fabricated on this site as written. Information technology tasted like a really good salisbury steak ... the meat was soft and flavorful and the onion gravy was just enough (I did use depression sodium beefiness broth). Served with mashed potatoes and veggies ... I will make this again without a doubt. Thanks Anne Marie, I plant a keeper today!
12/04/2011
I hold with Reviewer Flo, it is not helpful when people charge per unit the recipe with all of their "changes". I fabricated the recipe every bit it is written and my husband and I enjoyed information technology very much. The adjacent time I brand this I volition double the gravy particularly because we had mashed potatoes as a side with it. Other than that, it was a expert like shooting fish in a barrel quick repast and I already had most of the ingredients on hand...only had to purchase the beef and broth :)
02/21/2011
Really good! Because of dietary issues I used half ground turkey and half sausage instead of beefiness only it turned out just fine. I didn't have sherry and then cherry-red vino was substituted and I wish I had fabricated double the gravy to drown mashed potatoes, but that will exist the next time. Thanks for the recipe - nosotros'll have it again soon!
12/04/2011
Mmmm. Yummy! Simple and satisfying. My family unit loved it. I added some mushrooms and served with mashed potatoes and peas. Very proficient meal and I will definitely brand again and once more!
03/01/2011
Good recipe. Great with some upgrades. Burgers need more spice. Mayber some garlic? I needed to add more flour to brand gravy thicker. Definately double the gravy and I would suggest using hamburger with more than 10% fat for thicker gravy.
05/12/2012
This was a cracking easy recipe. I mixed one/2 ground pork and ane/ii ground beef. My onion gravy was a little heavy in onions! So adjacent time I'll cutting the onions back, but other wise I'll exist making this again!!
05/twenty/2011
Mimosa recommended this and I made information technology with venison. My husband LOVED information technology. I doubled the gravy.
09/xi/2014
This is my go to hamburger steak recipe. I made information technology the showtime time with cooking sherry, only it's not something I keep in my pantry, so I just omit information technology now. Sometimes I also supervene upon the seasoned salt in the patties with Tony Chachere's original creole seasoning. I honey that this recipe is flexible and hands modified! I will continue to employ information technology!
08/21/2006
A cool, rainy day ruined our menu plan of grilled burgers so I gave this recipe a try. It was succulent. I thought I would have leftovers, but there wasn't a scrap left. I served information technology with mashed potatoes and green beans. The only change I fabricated was using homemade chicken stock equally I had a lot in my freezer. Yous would never know, it was wonderful!
03/14/2011
Really nice hamburger steak. I found this recipe when scouring my pantry for ingredients for dinner. I didn't take breadcrumbs or an egg, and then I substituted equal amounts of dry oats and mayo. Worked beautifully. My picky children loved it. I'll attempt it once again with the actual ingredients, and I'1000 sure information technology will be every bit delicious. Thank you for a great get-to recipe.
09/09/2006
Need to double the gravy recipe. Needs more than vegetable oil. I reduced the salt mixed with meat to 1/4 tsp. The gravy is exceedingly salty--I reduced the amount of salt for the gravy to 1/eight tsp and it was nonetheless as well salty. I suppose that was from the sodium in the Worcestershire sauce and broth. I will not try this recipe once again and will get back to using my Salisbury Steak recipe.
03/29/2011
I sure loved this meal! My inlaws ain a dairy farm, so nosotros get unlimited amounts of footing beef and are e'er looking for new ways to serve it. These steaks were moist and very flavorful. I didn't take beef broth, so i used craven and it was yummy. Served with taters and veggys it was a perfect Sunday meal. My hubby idea they were real packaged steaks (we accept some at the farm that kind of look like these...but aren't that skillful.)
09/14/2006
I've been looking for a "Salisbury Steak" recipe for years and this fits the neb perfectly. I doubled the gravy part of the recipe and then I had enough to smothered my mashed potatoes with it. The recipe every bit written makes one cup of gravy and that isn't nearly enough for all that meat. Yummy is all I can say!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing!
01/04/2013
This dish was simple, and it was quick. My whole family loved information technology. Thank you for sharing.
05/xx/2011
Made this final dark and we all loved it! I'm not besides good at making gravy only just followed the directions and it really turned out well! I pretty much followed the recipe every bit written except I didn't take seasoned salt and then just added in some garlic pulverisation, and used a LOT of onions in the gravy as we love onions! I will definitely make this again.
08/26/2010
These were so easy to brand and delicious. Reminded me of the Television dinner salisbury steaks we had as kids. I didn't accept any Worcestershire sauce so I sub'd vinegar and extra garlic salt. Peachy weeknight meal.
03/24/2011
This is a regular on our table. I normally triple it. There is enough of the succulent gravy to serve with garlic mashed potatoes. Fantastic recipe.
08/23/2008
My kids actually liked this i. I followed the recipe for the meat patties but made some pretty large changes on the gravy. I only couldn't get myself to use hamburger grease every bit the base for my gravy so hither is what I did. I cooked the patties on a stovetop griddle and and so removed to some foil to keep warm. So I cooked my onions in another pan in a chip of olive oil, sprinkling with some seasoning salt, then removed to keep warm. For the gravy I heated together 1 can of cream of mushroom soup, virtually 1/2 cup beef broth, about one/2 cup milk, and the sherry. I placed the patties in a large serving dish, topped with the onions and then poured the gravy over the height. It was great! Don't over season the meat. The amounts shown are enough.
09/10/2006
This was delicious. Fast, easy, tasty! I concord, double the gravy. I substituted chopped garlic and minced onion in steak mixture. Crawly, thanks for the recipe, it's a keeper.
10/26/2010
The recipe was excellent; I don't personally intendance for the texture of the basis beef cooked this way. The flavors were terrific. I might attempt adapting this with cubed steak or other cutting of beefiness.
09/xix/2011
What a great recipe!! The only thing I did different was I added lipton onion soup with the beef instead of the other listed spices. Added cracking flavor, My whole family (including my picky 5 year old) LOVED it!
09/01/2007
I fabricated this for dinner terminal night and thought it was nifty. The burgers were perfectly seasoned. I doubled the gravy and left out the sherry. The but matter I would do different side by side time would be to saute the onions afterward removing the patties, instead of all at once.
11/22/2010
Can yous say "condolement nutrient" at its finest? I initially made this thinking it was something my hubby would bask, merely I enjoyed it equally as much every bit him. Followed the recipe and served it with mashed potatoes. Adjacent time I may double the sauce. Yum!
08/13/2005
Totally disappointed by this recipe. Really don't understand why all the loftier ratings. I had to add so many other seasonings to make it edible. Won't be making over again.
12/09/2007
This really went over well for Sunday dinner. I followed the recipe to a T except for I didn't have whatsoever sherry (and we don't like it anyhow) so I subbed in Maggi seasoning. I also cooked the onions after I cooked the patties. Next time I volition follow the others communication and double the gravy as it is delicious. Thank you for a great old-fashioned, homestyle recipe, we definitely will exist using this one oft. PS. Hubby said patties would be skilful on their ain as homemade hamburgers as well.
03/12/2011
I followed this recipe as it was written and thought it was just ok. My husband thought it was good but nothing special and I agree. Probably won't exist making this one again.
04/01/2011
Tastes like meatloaf in a fraction of the time!!! Cheers.
08/12/2011
I Honey these hamburger steaks. Cook em with double gravy, mashed potatoes, and corn and it'southward just like my favorite tv dinner, just homemade and a million times better!
03/09/2015
Not for me. Not plenty gravy for the mashed potatoes . Gravy too thick. Did not like the taste of the gravy. Hamburger steaks were banal. Followed recipe exactly. Won't make this again
03/08/2011
Everyone liked it. My three youngest, pickiest eaters loved it. I had to substitute chicken broth for the beefiness goop since it was all I had.
04/28/2006
First-class recipe! Thank y'all and then much! I agree that the cooking sherry makes this recipe!
12/03/2011
Note: Serve this in a basin over rice, top information technology with a fried(sunny side upwardly or like shooting fish in a barrel over) and you lot accept a Hawaiian "Loco Moco." Comfort food!
12/16/2010
What a great recipe. I didn't use any sherry merely other than that I followed as written. Served with Savory Herb Rice from this site and it was a peachy repast!
06/24/2011
I made this for my dad (I don't similar hamburger steak) and he said "brand sure you hang on to that recipe". And so I approximate this is a keeper!
11/10/2011
This was absolutely wonderful. It was also really like shooting fish in a barrel!! I actually loved the gravy. The only affair I did different was I added about ii cloves minced garlic to the onions. Side by side time I will use more onions though. Thanks for the recipe!!
xi/18/2005
YUM, comfort food at it's best. My beau said information technology was definetly eating place quality. I added sliced fresh mushrooms along with the onions... I volition use more onions adjacent time besides. For the gravy, I used Full-bodied beefiness broth, but I used a full cup of it. I recall that'southward what fabricated my gravy sooo savory and tasty. Likewise, I added a dash of ruddy wine instead of the sherry, and besides a dash of milk to go far a little flossy. This is definetly a very very quick and easy recipie that is succulent!
03/14/2011

Wow! Nosotros LOVE this and volition never buy packaged or jarred gravy again...y'all can sub a lilliputian red wine vinegar for the sherry and added fresh mushrooms as information technology simmered. I've also prepared this gravy using the spices with the leftover juice from a crockpot pot roast, which we have twice a month.

I gave this recipe 5 stars even though I did make a couple pocket-sized changes. I made my ain fresh bread crumbs & didn't apply the sherry or seasoned salt in the gravy. I did however make the patties as written. I also doubled the flour & broth for more gravy. Information technology was a hit with my son, so this one's a keeper!

Really practiced condolement food that I call back eating when I was a kid. I used actress lean beef, so this concluded up being quite healthy. I served it with sauteed kale and sweet potatoes. I will make this again whenever I want a nail from the past!

I substituted A1 Bold Steak Sauce for the Worchestershire Sauce as I did not have it on manus. I doubled the gravy fixins and added a small tin of sliced mushrooms-personal preference. MOIST AND DELICIOUS. This recipe tin be prepared early in the solar day, simply prior to serving you will have to add a little h2o to the gravy to go the consistency you want. Hamburger patties remained moist and flavorful.

I think this is a very good recipe, but was a tad bland for our sense of taste. I had to increase the seasonings and added some sliced mushrooms. However, I will keep this in my repertoire because it's easy, inexpensive, and uses ingredients usually on hand. I put the patties in the refrigerator for nearly 30 minutes to help them agree together during cooking--didn't accept whatever bug with breakage. Thanks for sharing!

Succulent! Such a homestyle meal, tasted like something my grandma would make. I only made 6 patties instead of 8. I cooked upwards virtually a cup of bowtie pasta and stirred it into the gravy at the end. Turned out not bad.

This was awesome!! My husband even liked information technology and he hates cooked onions. I am with Naples on a few things. 1. The patties were small equally viii, 6 would have been better. ii. Cooking the onions separate is a MUST simply I did them after the meat in social club to get the flavor and the bits. 3. I did use flour this time but I volition employ corn starch adjacent time. And at that place will nearly definitely be a adjacent time. I also didnt have whatever sherry then I use more Worcestershire sauce instead. This is definitely going to be in my favorite recipes rotation. Thanks Anne

Like shooting fish in a barrel and skillful. I didn't change a affair. I would make this once again, but I might modify a few things, similar add mushrooms and maybe a footling onion in the patties...It's definatly a showtime to a not bad recipe.

I have to admit that I increase my sauce proportions with more than beef bouillon and sherry, but otherwise I go on it the same. My daughter never tires of this dish!
